Covad logo Kindnet has partnered with Covad to bring you high-speed DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) internet service.

Covad is the leading nationwide provider of broadband (high-speed) DSL services. Because it comes with dial-up internet for backup and travel, it can completely replace your current service provider. A variety of home and business plans are available.

*** New 'naked' DSL service available ***

  • This is a great opportunity for cell phone users that don't want a land line to have high speed internet at home!

In a nutshell, Covad offers four levels of broadband service. From slowest (and most affordable) They are:
     Download speedUpload speedDownload Time for:
    Plan100KB5MB
    (56K modem)56K33K14 sec.13 min.
    TeleSurfer608K128K<1 sec.1 min.
    TeleSurfer Plus1500K128K<1 sec.27 sec.
    TeleSoho1500K384K<1 sec.27 sec.
    TeleSpeed144K to 1500K5 to <1 sec.5 min. to 27 sec.

    • TeleSurfer: ADSL (A for asynchronous), in which the upload speed (128K) is not as fast as the download (608K; 1500K--or 1.5M--for TeleSurfer Plus) (but the upload is still more than twice as fast as a 56K modem, and the download 10 to 25 times as fast). ADSL runs over the existing telephone line into your home, without interfering with simultaneous phone service from your current provider. (You may also connect several computers to a single DSL line simultaneously.)

    • TeleSoho: (SOHO stands for Small Office/Home Office): Also ADSL, but with upload speed up to 3 times as fast (384K).

    • TeleSpeed: SDSL (S for synchronous), in which upload and download speeds are the same, though no faster than ADSL download speed. Unlike ADSL, SDSL requires the installation of a dedicated phone line. TeleSpeed is offered in a range of speeds from 144K to 1500K (1.5M). Higher upload speeds than ADSL allow you to share files from your computer more efficiently.

    • TeleXtend: T1, rather than DSL -- a very high-speed (and very expensive) option that has the advantage of not being limited by distance from Covad's equipment. Normally found only in offices, it will not show up as an option for you if you indicate "Home" use on the qualification form.
Click here to see if you qualify. Qualification depends on your physical distance from Covad's equipment, based on the telephone number and zip code you enter, so you must enter the correct information for where you would have the DSL service installed.
